The start of the men's 800 meter run at the 2010 Sandlapper Track & Field Classic
The 2010 Sandlapper Track & Field Classic held at West Ashley High School enjoyed bright sunny skies for a record setting day. Being Greater Charleston’s largest annual event for boys and girls high school track, the 4th Annual Sandlapper Classic hosted a record 29 high schools representing three states and nearly 1000 athletes including nationally ranked superstars and 8th grade prodigies alike. Thousands attended the season opening extravaganza for a full day of thrilling events. Local powerhouse Summerville High School won the Overall School Championship, while the Sumerville Girls won the Girls Team Championship and the Summerville Boys tied with local rival Fort Dorchester High School for the Boys Team Championship — the first tie in Sandlapper Classic history.
