The 2nd Annual Sandlapper Track & Field Classic will build upon the unprecedented success of its 2007 Inaugural, including enhanced accommodations, a new FinshLynx timing system, and more teams to generate an even higher level of competition. With all accommodations and amenities again being managed by the Sandlapper Real Estate Group—which is owned by former Boston Red Sox, Citadel Bulldogs and College World Series veteran, Chaleston native Gettys Glaze—coaches, student athletes, and the media alike can expect an unforgettable experience with professional attention to every detail. Meet the Coaching Staff
Richard Luden | Athletic Director and Boys Head Coach
Rich Luden has been coaching high school track for 25 years, 19 at the former St. Andrews High School. In 1999 St. Andrews merged with Middleton High School to form the new West Ashley High School, which is currently one of South Carolina’s 16 largest schools. Rich is also West Ashley’s Athletic Director. During his tenure at St. Andrews, Luden’s boys track team captured 5 region championships, 16 county championships, placed in the top 5 in the State Championship meet 7 times, won the lower state championship in 1982, and won the AAA State Championship in 1999. That same year Luden was also honored as the South Carolina AAA Track Coach of the Year. Rich has coached numerous athletes on to compete for NCAA schools; The Citadel, University of South Carolina, and Florida State to name a few. Luden was also the State director for AAU Track & Field for 12 years. Richard Luden graduated from the College Of Charleston with a BS degree in Secondary Administration in 1976. He received his M.Ed. degree in Secondary Administration from the Citadel in 1980. The St. Andrews High School graduate excelled in basketball and baseball as a varsity prep, and was the captain of the basketball team as a senior. Jeremy Morris | Girls Head Coach
Jeremy Morris has been coaching multiple sports at West Ashley High School for 5 years. As a prep at Lexington High School in Lexington, SC, Jeremy was a standout athlete in football, wrestling, and track & field. Among his many honors, Jeremy was a member of the 1992 Shrine Bowl team. As a top Discus thrower, he was Region Champion, Lower State Champion, the AAAA State Champion in the Shot Put, while in the Discus he finished 5th in the state. As a grappler, Jeremy represented the Up-State in the North/South Wrestling Match in the Heavyweight Class (275 lb. Class). Jeremy Morris went on to play football at Newberry College, and upon graduation, also completed post-graduate work at the Citadel.

I am not only raising a track Champion , but a beacon of light for Jesus as she impacts everyone that will come to know her as a track star and Christian, doing his will in creative ,fun ways to touch hearts and change lives.
I am not a writer at all but I seem to have found something to write about almost daily since December launch day. Keep up your great efforts… Can’t keep a good blog down.
I welcome any tips instruction,anything to help the site be more appealing to folks interested in youth track. Yes I think my sensibilities are okay : ) as yours are.
